# Data sources and licences Kanjily works offline with open data. Thank you to the communities that make it possible. ## Dictionary and kanji: EDRDG (JMdict, KANJIDIC2, KRADFILE/RADKFILE) This app uses the JMdict, KANJIDIC2 and KRADFILE/RADKFILE files. These files are the property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group (EDRDG), and are used in conformance with the Group's licence (https://www.edrdg.org/edrdg/licence.html), the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike Licence (V4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/). JMdict was compiled by Jim Breen and many contributors; KANJIDIC2 by Jim Breen; KRADFILE/RADKFILE by Jim Breen and the Kanji Dictionary Group. Changes made by Kanjily: the data was converted to a database; romaji and search forms were added; furigana, pitch accent and level information from the sources below were attached. This converted database is shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. You can get it at https://kanjily.tnpixel.com/data ## Stroke order: KanjiVG Stroke order data from KanjiVG (https://kanjivg.tagaini.net), copyright Ulrich Apel, released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/). The stroke data is kept as a separate file. ## Furigana: JmdictFurigana Furigana readings from JmdictFurigana by Doublevil (https://github.com/Doublevil/JmdictFurigana), distributed under the same licence as JMdict (CC BY-SA). ## Pitch accent, kanji levels and word levels: Kanjium Pitch accent notation, JLPT level data and other additions to EDICT, KANJIDIC and KRADFILE were provided by Uros O. through his free database "Kanjium" (https://github.com/mifunetoshiro/kanjium), licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. JLPT level lists come from Jonathan Waller (http://www.tanos.co.uk/) and are community estimates, not official lists. ## Example sentences: Tatoeba Example sentences and translations from the Tatoeba Project (https://tatoeba.org), licensed under CC BY 2.0 FR (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/fr/) or CC0. Each sentence names its contributor where it is shown. ## Notes Meanings in languages other than the ones in JMdict are translations of the English meanings made by Kanjily with Google Translate (machine translation); they may contain mistakes, are labelled as machine translated in the app, and are shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. Levels such as N5 to N1 are estimates and are not official JLPT information. Practice exams, grammar notes, stories, dialogues and other lesson texts are original to Kanjily and are not official JLPT or JFT-Basic material.
